Our Impact

Washington Family Engagement offers leadership development programs that build adult and youth capacity to become engaged in their schools, communities and civic life. We believe that every individual, when given equal access to opportunities, has the potential to learn how to lead, serve others and influence societal change. Our leadership programs teach students of all ages knowledge and practical skills – our graduates find passion, purpose and a long-lasting sense of agency. They work on community or school projects that are meaningful to them and make a difference to others. Many feel empowered to start or continue their college education, look for better jobs, focus on improving their housing and family stability but most importantly, they all want to help somebody or contribute to something.

We develop leaders that inspire and include others, seek to listen and understand diverse perspectives, bring people together, make informed decisions, speak publicly to inform and influence outcomes and act confidently for the greater good. Our programs focus on 6 areas:

STUDENT PROGRAM EVALUATION

How would you rate your learning experience in this course?

STUDENTS WORDS

I had a wonderful experience that helped me learn about civic education and grow as a leading mother. I feel more confident in expressing my ideas and needs, as well as representing my community.

This class taught me that even small contributions can significantly change our community. Inspired by each lesson, I’m motivated to start taking action to make a positive impact, no matter how small.

This course provided a unique educational and social experience, connecting me with diverse classmates from different backgrounds and academic levels. It revealed the shared barriers immigrants face when starting fresh in a new land, fostering a sense of unity as we strive to establish this country as our home.

I am now highly motivated to take decisive action and feel fully prepared to engage and participate in my community actively.
