Washington Family Engagement believes that every parent or caregiver, when given equal access to opportunity, has the potential to learn how to lead, advocate on behalf of others, collaborate with their children’s schools and influence positive change. Since 2015, Washington Family Engagement has been developing parent leaders by offering programs that not only impart knowledge but also teach practical skills and foster passion, purpose and a long-lasting sense of agency. Participants graduate from our Washington Institute for Parent Leadership (IPL) ready to make significant contributions to their neighborhoods, schools and our state. Many also feel empowered to change their own lives, look for better jobs, improve their housing and family stability and continue their education.
We develop leaders who inspire and include others, seek to listen and understand various perspectives, bring people together, make informed decisions, speak publicly to inform and influence outcomes and act confidently for the greater good. Our programs focus on 6 areas:
